The South Korean news agency "Yonhap" quoted the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy as saying that auto exports totaled 179,709 units last month, down 6.4 percent from the previous month.

In terms of value, exports rose by 2.3 percent to $4.09 billion last month.

South Korea witnessed great growth in vehicle exports in January 2021, with 19,2073 units shipped abroad, while foreign sales of auto parts increased 14.2 percent year over year to $2.06 billion.

Meanwhile, due to a shortage of auto chips, car output declined 15% year over year to 271,054 units last month, while domestic demand fell 27.6% to 111,294 units, according to the data.
