SsangYong unveils the first electric car on this date
The South Korean company, SsangYong Motor, which specializes in the production of SUVs, and the owner of the Indian group Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, announced today, Thursday, its intention to launch the first fully electric car in the local market tomorrow.
And the South Korean Yonhap news agency quoted a statement by SsangYong Corporation as saying that it had received, during the past three weeks, pre-booking requests for about 3,500 compact electric Coronado E-Motion cars, which are expected to be put on the market tomorrow.
The Coronado E-Motion is powered by a 61.5 kilowatt lithium-ion battery produced by the South Korean company, LG Energy Solutions, and is sufficient to cover a distance of up to 307 kilometers before needing to be recharged.

The zero-emissions car is also equipped with a set of safety and security factors, such as the lane-departure warning system, the lane-keeping assist system, the forward collision warning system and the driver alert systems.
The price of the car ranges between 39 million and 46 million South Korean won (32 thousand and 38,000 dollars), depending on the size of the options and luxuries in the car. With government subsidies for electric cars, the price of the car in the South Korean market will drop to less than 30 million won.
This comes at a time when SsangYong succeeded in reducing its losses last year to 292.9 billion won, compared to 504.84 billion won during the previous year, thanks to cost-cutting measures in various sectors of the company.
